The owners of Cryptozoo set out in search of a baku, a legendary hybrid creature that feeds on dreams. During the journey, they begin to wonder whether these rare mythical creatures, being captured, should live in the zoo, or whether they should remain in the wild, living in hiding.

Dash Shaw
Dash Shaw was born on April 6, 1983 in Los Angeles, California, but grew up and currently lives in Richmond, Virginia. He is the illustrator of many graphic novels, such as BodyWorld, Doctors, Bottomless Belly Button, Clue: Candlestick , and the forthcoming Discipline in the New York Review of Comics. His debut film, as a screenwriter and director, My Entire High School Sinking into the Sea (starring Jason Schwartzman, Lena Dunham, Reggie Watts, Maya Rudolph and Susan Sarandon) premiered at the main New York Film Festival. The film was also shown at the Berlinale in 2017. Since then, he has been working on his second feature film Cryptozoo, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2021.
