Miłosz Pękala is a percussionist, composer, and educator, a graduate of the F. Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. He earned a doctoral degree in 2014 and a habilitation in 2019. Specializing in vibraphone, multi-percussion setups, and Latin American instruments, he integrates new technologies and interdisciplinarity into his artistic projects. A laureate of prestigious percussion competitions, his recordings, including Folklove, Requiem Ludowe, and 1976: A Space Odyssey, have received critical acclaim, earning Gold and Platinum Records as well as a Fryderyk Award. In 2015, he and the Kwadrofonik quartet were honored with the Polityka Passport Award in the Classical Music category.
As a composer, Miłosz Pękala has collaborated with institutions such as Polish Radio Theatre and the Malta Festival, creating music for performances and radio dramas. His compositions appear on the recordings of Kwadrofonik and the duo Pękala Kordylasińska Pękala, and his piece Radio for Vibraphone won an award at the Peles International Composition Competition in Portugal. He has released three solo albums: Monopercussion, Monopercussion 2, and 8 Pieces in Different Tempos. Currently, he is a professor at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, leads the Hob-beats Percussion Group, and collaborates with renowned artists, including Dawid Podsiadło, Dorota Miśkiewicz, and Natalia Przybysz.
